(2) The smallest fraction of a coin in Ethereum's native ether currency. One wei, pronounced "way," is one quintillionth of an ether (ETH). Transaction fees on Ethereum (gas prices) are quantified in billions of wei (gwei). See gas and Ethereum. In the Bitcoin blockchain, the "Satoshi" is a fraction of the native currency (see Satoshi).
