Definition: going to the cloud

Using a cloud computing service, which means accessing a server in a datacenter somewhere in the world. When a cloud computing service is used from Amazon, Google, Microsoft or any other company, the customer is rarely entitled to know the actual location of the server being used. In addition, companies often keep the location of all their datacenters secret to reduce hacking and espionage. See cloud and cloud computing.
