Definition: OneDrive


Microsoft's cloud storage service, which allows users to upload files and access them from Windows PCs, Macs and mobile devices. OneDrive functionality is built into newer versions of Microsoft applications as well as Windows, starting with Win 8.1. The OneDrive app can be added to previous Windows versions as well as Mac OS X and mobiles. Introduced in 2007 as Windows Live Folders, it was subsequently renamed Windows Live SkyDrive, then SkyDrive and finally OneDrive in 2014. Starting in early 2022, OneDrive is only available to users running Windows 10 and 11. See cloud storage.
