An ultra-low power neuromorphic microcontroller (MCU) from Innatera in The Netherlands that was launched in 2025. Pulsar chips are mixed analog and digital chips used as always-on sensors for myriad applications. However, unlike regular processors, Pulsar only uses power when sound or motion is sensed.
A CNN and an SNP
The Pulsar chip uses an AI convolutional neural network (CNN) for pattern recognition and a "spiking neural processor" (SNP) to handle the processing. The "spiking" means it activates when required but otherwise is almost dormant, saving a huge amount of electricity. See
