Definition: Phenom


An early family of 64-bit, multicore CPU chips from AMD. The X3 was a triple-core CPU, and the X4 was a quad-core chip. In 2007, the Phenom X4 was launched as part of AMD's "Spider" platform for gamers, which included the ATI Radeon 3800 series graphics card and AMD 7-series chipset. Phenom was followed by AMD's Zen architecture. See Zen.
