18Angstroms) As of 2026, Intel 18A is Intel's latest chip technology. Using cutting-edge technology, Intel 18A is the successor to Intel 20A, which was tested but not commercialized. Intel 14A is expected in 2028. See

Although initially used for Intel's own x86 processor line, Intel is planning to be a foundry for chip designers, which would compete directly with TSMC. See

RibbonFET and PowerVias
The angstrom measurements are really branding and not physical dimensions. The chip's feature sizes are not really 20, 18 and 14 angstroms (see
chip feature size and
angstrom).
Since the 2010s, the nanometer measurements continue to decrease for marketing purposes, not physical sizes. Actual gate lengths of the transistors are much larger; for example, Intel 18A gate lengths are much larger than 1.8 nanometers. However, these increasingly smaller nanometer designations refer to improvements in architecture.
For example, Intel 18A uses the RibbonFET transistor design and also places the power wires at the bottom of the chip instead of the top where the signal wires connect the gates (see
RibbonFET). This PowerVia architecture uses vias from the bottom to the top of the chip and is a major breakthrough in transistor design but also requires a lot more steps (see
