Definition: x86 smartphone

A smartphone that uses an Intel x86-based Atom CPU. Most smartphones use ARM chips, including iPhones and Androids. In 2016, the upcoming Atom SoFIA platform was cancelled, leaving the future of x86 phones in doubt. See Intel Atom and x86.
