Definition: VRAM


(Video RAM) A generic term for the dual-ported memory chips located next to the GPU in a graphics card or AI module. VRAM provides fast graphics by simultaneously sending data to the screen and accepting the next frame. VRAM allows fast loading of neuron weights in AI models (see neural network). GDDR and HBM Memory Types
GDDR is the type of VRAM memory for graphics and AI but high-end AI uses HBM for greater speed (see GDDR and high bandwidth memory).
