Definition: superchip


A name given to processor chips that are the state-of-the-art at any given time. In the late 1970s, Amdahl attempted to create a 2.5" superchip but never succeeded (see Trilogy). NVIDIA dubbed its 144-core Grace processor the Superchip (see NVIDIA Grace Hopper Superchip).
