Definition: GENIUS Act


(Guiding and Establishing National Inovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act) The first U.S. cryptocurrency law, enacted in July 2025. The GENIUS Act sets guidelines for private companies to issue stablecoins.

For every stablecoin issued, the stablecoin provider must maintain an equal amount in U.S. dollars. Monthly audits are required, and a 120-day review period is established for new stablecoin issuers. See crypto legislation and stablecoin.
