Definition: software update
Updating a program to a newer version. Throughout their lifetime, every operating system and almost every application and control program are updated periodically. Software updates are either automatic and behind the scenes, or they require users to confirm the change. See firmware update.
The TV Is Updating
Before the turn of the century when TVs were still boxy tubes, computer updates were commonplace. However, few would have envisioned updating their TVs in the future.
