Although earlier BlackBerry smartphones had physical keyboards, most smartphones today use a touchscreen keyboard to enter text. See

Tablet Keyboards
Like smartphones, all tablets have touchscreen keyboards, and they differ somewhat in their layout. External physical keyboards that work with a tablet have their own feel just like desktop computer keyboards can be vastly different. See

Shortcuts
On many smartphone keyboards, pressing the space bar twice inserts a period and space to end the sentence. Touchscreen keyboards have their own screen symbols for key-press feedback and upper/lower case identification.
There Are Exceptions
In 2026, the Android-based Titan 2 from Unihertz became available for $399.99. Its 4.5" display and customizable physical keyboard are reminiscent of the BlackBerry. (Image courtesy of Unihertz.)
