Definition: screen sharing


(1) Using a remote control program to view the desktop of another computer. In this case, both local and remote users have control of the desktop. See remote control software.

(2) A function within a videoconferencing program that lets one party view the desktop of another party without being able to make any changes. For example, Skype and Zoom offer this feature. See Skype and Zoom videoconferencing.
