Smartphones are typically repaired at the phone manufacturer's authorized service center. Because smartphones often do not have replaceable batteries, authorized as well as non-authorized third-party service centers can generally do the work. Kits for users are sometimes available, but user repairs may break the warranty. However, by making changes to the next model line, the manufacturer can always make self repair and non-authorized third-party repair more difficult. See
