Definition: frame TV

A TV set that becomes a picture frame when powered down. People love their TVs, but as the sets get larger, they become black blobs in the middle of the room when turned off. The frame TV displays beautiful works of art, in fact, some of the world's greatest, when the TV is off.

Samsung's LCD Frame TVs
Because LCD TVs are not susceptible to image burn-in, Samsung can display static pictures for long periods of time. Users choose the works of art and have a slide show. There are even frame and matting choices. See LED TV.

For OLEDs
Because OLED screens are susceptible to burn-in when static images remain on screen for hours, LG's OLED frame TVs do not display motionless images. Users can choose scenic, but slow moving videos such as rain and sunset, and even they are automatically changed after a period of time. See OLED.
