Definition: password protected sharing
A Windows setting that requires users to have an account on the computer in order to access shared files and folders. To enable sharing with other users on the network, password protected sharing must be turned off (Advanced Sharing in control panel).
All of a Sudden Sharing Ceases
Password protected sharing is turned on by default. After being turned off, it can be reversed with an OS update, and users cannot view or copy a shared folder they had previous permission to access.
