Definition: neurotechnology


The study of a person's behavior when an electronic system interfaces directly to a human brain. For example, in the late 1990s, the FDA approved deep brain stimulation (DBS), which uses implanted electrodes in the skull to lessen the symptons of Parkinson's disease.
