Definition: network in a box


(1) Networking components in a single package. The term may refer to hardware such as a wireless base station that is a complete package or to software such as a centralized management console that controls an entire network. See in a box.

(2) (Network in a Box) A packaged product from Network Computer, Inc., (NCI) that included an x86-based server, NCOS operating system, Oracle Web server and other applications. See network computer.
