A device that provides Internet access to one or more computers. Earlier modem/routers were used for dial-up service, with some units containing dual modems for bonding two analog lines together (see
channel bonding). Modern modem/routers provide access to cable, DSL or FiOS providers (see
cable/DSL gateway).
