Definition: link site

A website that contains hyperlinks to other sites and offers very little original content other than the particular organization of its links. Link sites are often set up to promote the local community or a particular subject. However, under the guise of offering a service, the sole purpose of many of these sites is to generate money from the ads on the page. Very often, the link site offers no pretense, displaying nothing but advertising links. See link farm, link swap, doorway page, domain parking and cybermall.
