Serving one customer. A single tenant refers to hardware, software or a service for one customer (one tenant). See
single-tenant VM.
Multi-Tenant
A "multi-tenant" system serves several customers and comprises "isolated" and "shared" tenants. An isolated tenant customer is completely separated from all others for security purposes. For example, each isolated tenant may access only its own database, and authentication is more stringent. A shared tenant is a multi-tenant customer that shares a limited amount of resources such as software code.
