Definition: intraframe coding


In video compression, intraframe coding encodes each video frame independently. Although intraframe (inTRA) coding takes up more storage space than interframe (inTER) coding, it allows for the most flexibility when editing the original material later on. See interframe coding.




In-TRA vs. In-TER
Intraframe coding takes up more space than interframe, but subsequent editing is much easier and delivers better results.
