A feature in certain GPUs that smooths out rough edges in the frame when a gamer has turned down the rendering resolution or anti-aliasing level. For example, AMD's Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) uses Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS) to select which elements in the scene to sharpen rather than applying a common filter to the entire frame. See
