The previous line of iPhones, introduced in 2022. The iPhone 14 offers modest improvements over the iPhone 13 models. It is the first iPhone series to replace the removable SIM card with a built-in SIM (see
eSIM) and was the last to use Apple's Lightning socket for charging (see
iPhone 15). The first iPhone available in purple, the camera's Cinematic Mode shoots 4K video at 24 fps and 30 fps. See

Emergency Services
In the event of a serious car crash, the phone alerts emergency services via satellite along with its current location. Users can also send emergency text messages via satellite when there is no cellular service. However, there have been reports of the first round of phones calling 911 on roller coaster rides or when dropped. Nevertheless, in December 2022, a couple made headlines after they were rescued from falling into a 300-foot California canyon because their iPhone signaled the call center. See

6.1" 14 and 6.7" 14 Plus
The bottom two models use the earlier A15 chip from the iPhone 13 series, which differentiates them from the top tier Pro and Pro Max.
6.1" 14 Pro and 6.7" 14 Pro Max
The top models use Apple's latest A16 chip and feature Dynamic Island, the small front-facing camera cutout that expands in size to show information such as alerts and notifications (see
Dynamic Island).
