Definition: audiophile DAC


A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that is geared to fans of high-quality sound. Audiophile DACs support resolutions of 192 kHz and beyond with error correction. They often include multiple inputs such as TOSLINK, coaxial cable and USB and may include selectable upsampling (see upsample). Such DACs may also feature a Class A output stage and possibly include a headphone amp with volume control to connect directly to the amplifier.
