Redirected from: graphics application

Definition: graphics program

Software that supports the creation and editing of images or drawings. Paint, drawing and computer-aided design (CAD) programs are the primary graphics applications. Today, except for console programs, users interact with software via a graphical user interface (GUI). However, although graphics based, a word processor that may allow inserting and even minor editing of images, would not be considered a true graphics program (see GUI). See paint program, drawing program, CAD, presentation graphics, graphics pipeline, image editor and image processing.
