To have a light-hearted joke with your very technical colleagues, take the highest clock rate of the fastest CPU chip on the market and quintuple it (6 GHz is tops today). Then, say "did you hear about Intel's 30 gigahertz CPU... they kept it secret but just announced it." This is like a Toyota Camry with 10,000 horsepower. If your friends have no reaction, they are not sufficiently geeky. For fun and trivia, see
buffer flush and
Stringy Floppy.
Some Numbers Make the Camry Insignificant
The volume of interaction that takes place every second inside a chip is incomprehensible. The numbers are really more like a Camry with 1 billion horsepower (see
active area and
Versal).
