Definition: full-array LED TV

An LCD TV that uses a matrix of LEDs behind the entire screen for backlighting. The more zones in the matrix that are independently dimmable, the more granular the light, and smaller dark areas of the image can be made very black. In contrast, OLED TVs, like earlier plasma TVs, generate their own light for each individual pixel. See granularity, LED TV and OLED.
