Definition: exahash


One quintillion cryptographic hashes. An exahash generally refers to mining Bitcoin and means that every second a collection of mining rigs is making one quintillion hash computations. Individual rigs are rated in terahashes (trillion hashes per second). In September 2024, the worldwide Bitcoin mining hash rate reached 700 exahashes per second (700 quintillion hashes per second).
