Definition: error-free channel

An interface (wire, cable, etc.) between devices that is not normally subject to external interference. Although any channel that transfers electrical signals can be influenced by sufficiently strong external phenomena, Ethernet, PCI Express and USB are common examples that are error-free. What was never error free was the dial-up telephone system. See Ethernet, PCI Express and USB.
