Definition: e-tongue


(Electronic-TONGUE) A device that detects the chemical composition of liquids. An e-tongue can analyze flavor as well as or better than a human being. For example, in 2019, IBM developed a portable e-tongue using its Watson AI system to detect flavors in any liquid. It can even sample the vintage of wine. Such devices can also analyze urine for health-related issues. See Watson.
