Definition: e-government
(Electronic-GOVERNMENT) A generic term for Web-based services from agencies of local, state and federal governments. Such websites provide a wide variety of services to the public and have been extremely helpful in reducing internal paperwork. For example, the myriad forms that government agencies require can typically be downloaded from a website. When information on the site is clearly indexed and explained, the number of support calls is dramatically reduced compared to the days before the Web.
