Definition: dynamic noise reduction

The removal of unwanted visual artifacts in video material. Dynamic noise reduction removes unwanted visual distortions within a frame (temporal reduction) and between frames (spacial reduction). Noise and other visual irregularities are becoming increasingly unacceptable as TV screens become larger and higher resolutions are used. See noise, artifact and jitter.
