Definition: dynamic disk

A Windows hard disk configuration that supports RAID architectures for high performance and fault tolerance, as well as spanning (treating multiple physical disks as one). Striping (RAID 0) splits the data onto several disks for performance, and RAID 1 and RAID 5 provide fault tolerance using different methods (see RAID). Contrast with basic disk.
