Definition: disinformation

Intentionally erroneous information. With the advent of the Web, there is an exponentially greater amount of public disinformation than ever in history. The Web has become the leading venue to publish falsehoods and purposely deceive people. Contrast with "misinformation," which refers to misleading people unintentionally.
