Definition: DID


(1) (Digital IDentity) A national standard for identifying a person in the digital world. There is no worldwide DID standard, but starting around the 2010s, many countries began to explore or adopt their own DIDs. India's Aadhaar system provides electronic ID for 99% of its adult population.

(2) (Direct Inward Dialing) The ability to make a telephone call to an internal telephone extension within an organization without having to go through an operator.
