(
CRYPTOcurrency fundraising) Since the advent of crypto fundraising via an "initial coin offering" (ICO), two other forms of crowdfunding have emerged.
IEO and IDO (Exchange and DeX Offerings)
"Initial exchange offerings" (IEOs) raise capital on a cryptocurrency exchange. Like ICOs, tokens are sold prior to their public listing. A "initial decentralized exchange offering" or "initial DeX offering" (IDO) allows users to swap their crypto for new token offerings.
With an ICO, the actual fundraising is handled on the issuer's website. With an IEO or IDO, the fundraising is managed on the exchange platform. Anyone can start an ICO; however, with an IEO, the exchange screens the coin issuer. On an IDO, the DeX platform does the screening making potential customers feel more secure investing money with a known entity. See
