Definition: crypto coin

(1) One unit of a native cryptocurrency such as BTC on Bitcoin or ETH on Ethereum. Although a coin generally means the native crypto, it may casually refer to any crypto. For example, there are thousands of cryptocurrencies on Ethereum, but ETH is the only native Ethereum coin. See crypto token and crypto asset.

(2) A physical coin that is imprinted with a Bitcoin, Ethereum or other cryptocurrency logo. Coins made of silver and gold have intrinsic worth based on their metal value but have no relation in value to the digital cryptocurrency. Because the world has dealt with coins for millennia, the use of the word "coin" often prevails when referring to crypto assets. See crypto glossary.

Real Ethereum Coins?
Ethereum, Bitcoin and other popular cryptocurrencies are available as physical coins, but they are created for collectors and as novelties with no relationship to the value of the digital currency. See physical crypto.
