Definition: cable creep

The continuous growth of connecting cables for computers and A/V equipment. As more devices are hooked up to the home network for data transfer and control, more cables are used for connection. Cable creep is the reason wireless has taken off in home computer networks, and it is increasingly the reason attention is paid to hooking up home theaters without cables (see WirelessHD and WiGig). See Wi-Fi.
