The light source in LCD TV and monitor screens. The backlight used to come from a fluorescent lamp (see
CCFL); however, the lamp was superseded by LEDs and MiniLEDs. In contrast, OLED displays and their derivatives generate the backlight from the OLED layers themselves (see
OLED and

LCD TV and Monitor Backlights
Most of today's LCD screens use an LED backlight. However, MiniLEDs provide more precise lighting than full-sized LEDs. See
