Definition: appchain

(APPlication-specific blockCHAIN) A blockchain used for one type of application. Examples are Thirdweb's Arbitrum Orbit and the Acala Polkadot parachain. Contrast with a general-purpose blockchain such as Ethereum which is used for thousands of different decentralized apps (See dApp). See blockchain.
