Definition: analog monitor


A video monitor that accepts analog signals from the computer's display adapter, which does the digital-to-analog conversion. An analog monitor may accept only a narrow range of display resolutions; for example, only VGA or VGA and Super VGA, or it may accept a wide range of signals including TV. See multifrequency monitor and RGB monitor. Contrast with digital monitor.
