Redirected from: aluminum battery

Definition: aluminum-ion battery

A rechargeable battery technology that offers many advantages over lithium-ion batteries. Aluminum-ion batteries for EVs are expected to fully charge in as little as 10 minutes, hold three times as much energy and outlast the vehicle many times over. They are also reportedly more stable, safer (no thermal runaway) and cost considerably less. In addition, aluminum-ion batteries are more easily recyclable. See thermal runaway.

It is rumored that Tesla will switch to aluminum-ion batteries in the future, which would be a game changer. However, existing EVs cannot use different batteries. Stay tuned! See sodium-ion battery, lithium-ion battery and batteries.
