Not Great for U.S. Chip Making
Throughout its history, the U.S. embraced friendshoring in semiconductors only to find itself at the mercy of other countries for this important industry. According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the U.S. manufactured only 12% of the world's supply in 2023, although nearly half of global chip sales were made by U.S. companies. See
