Definition: accelerated computing


An umbrella term for ever-faster computer speeds for gaming, scientific applications and artificial intelligence (AI). Accelerated computing means increased parallel processing, which is performed using more cores in the CPU and more parallel operations in GPUs. It also comprises the increasing numbers of servers in a datacenter working in tandem that contain the latest CPUs and GPUs. See CPU, GPU and parallel processing.
