Definition: Zynga
A popular Web-based game publisher that was founded in 2007 by Mark Pincus. Named after his bulldog Zinga (hence the company bulldog logo), Zynga became famous for games such as CitiVille, CastleVille, FarmVille, Texas HoldEm Poker and Empires & Allies on Facebook and other social sites. By the end of 2011, Zynga claimed more than 200 million users were playing its games each month. In March 2012, Zynga announced it would offer games directly from the Web.
