Definition: Zcash

A privacy-driven cryptocurrency that was launched in 2016. Zcash is based on the Bitcoin codebase, which means it will be capped at 21 million coins. Unlike Bitcoin, which makes the transaction public although the participants are hidden, Zcash hides the entire transaction. However, users can divulge their transactions for auditing purposes. ZEC is the symbol for the Zcash cryptocurrency. See Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and zero-knowledge proof.
