A family of 8-bit microprocessors from Zilog. The first Z80 was launched in 1976 to compete with Intel's 8080 processor. It was widely used in first-generation personal computers such as the Radio Shack TRS-80, Osborne and Kaypro, as well as European and Japanese computers. The Z80 even ran in the Apple II with the addition of a plug-in card. See
