Xerox's first copy machine, introduced in 1949. The Model A was not an easy machine to use. Numerous manual steps were required to make a plain paper copy. However, the Model A was popular for making offset printing masters, and corporations purchased the device primarily for that purpose. See

The Model A
The first Model A was sold in 1950. Although manually operated, it provided the experience and revenue to develop the 914 (see
Xerox 914).
