Definition: Visor 4K

(1) For the earlier personal digital assistant (PDA), see Visor.

(2) A VR headset from Immersed, Austin, Texas. First demoed in 2024, Visor is known for its lightness and comfort for long periods of time. Less costly than other VR headsets, Visor enables multiple large windows to be viewed at the same time when hooked up to a laptop. Visor uses an integrated app for everything, and hand and eye tracking take the place of controllers. Visor 4K is touted as an "editing studio in a bag."

Tethered vs. Untethered
The Visor 4K (left) is very trim because it is cabled to a computer. The popular Meta Quest 3 (right) is bulky by comparison because it is self-contained and, in this example, uses a third-party head strap to reduce facial pressure. Head straps may also hold a battery to extend runtime (red arrow). (Image courtesy of Cassidy in VR.)
